Gameforge has announced that their MMO ‘TERA’ will switch to a free-to-play (FTP) model on February 5, 2024 in the European region. Here are the latest details on the new pricing structure.

Soon everyone will get a chance to play TERA for free and with the new payment model comes even more great content. Gameforge will add a new dungeon as well as a new PvP arena, new challenges and new rewards when the FTP version of the game launches early next month.

TERA will soon have two standard account types, the ‘Free User’ and the ‘Veteran’. Free Users receive full access to the entire game content including; all races, all classes, instances, equipment items and players-versus-player content. Veterans will include everyone that bought the game before the switch to free-to-play and will offer some advantages over those in the ‘Free Users’ classification.

The ‘TERA Club’ will offer players a few extras including a special mount, a daily selection of boosts as well as different types of scrolls. The monthly subscription fee for the ‘TERA Club’ will be 12.95 euro. That was the same price as as the original subscription. Gameforge has confirmed that players can subscribe to a 3-month membership for 11.65 euro and a one-year membership will allow players to pay only 9.99 euro a month.

The item shop will include “recovery, mana and stamina potions for character development” says Gameforge in a press-release outlining the new model. Service items are also available for purchase, with which players can change the name or appearance of their hero. The developers also plan to expand the current shop with “exclusive mounts, weapon skins and clothing”. For Players that belong to a guild, they can enter into an alliance and gain useful bonuses. The three alliances are enemies of one another and continually fight each other for dominance on the respective game server.
