When there is a blockbuster title on the app-store it has the potential to reach astronomical records. That’s the case for ‘Temple Run 2′ the mobile game that released just last week.
The game is a sequel to the popular title ‘Temple Run’ from Imangi Studios. The creators shared a few of the sales numbers that the game produced during it’s launch, including taking the ‘#1 Free App’ position and achieving over 6 million downloads in first day.
In just four days the game was downloaded 20 million times, and that is just from Apple App store. It only took 8 hours total for the game to reach #1 on the charts and is already the #3 Top Grossing App (even though it’s free for consumers).
“The response from fans has been overwhelming,†says Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi. “We are thrilled players want more of the Temple Run universe, and we hope to grow and expand the game over the coming months.†In under one week, Temple Run 2 has accumulated over 210 million sessions, which garners a combined time of over 1,775 years of gameplay.
the new game features high-res graphics, new obstacles, abilities, player powers, and achievements, Temple Run 2 takes place in an “entirely new and infinitely more challenging world filled with curvy roads, hills and valleys, where players must fly down zip lines and speed along in mine carts to get away from the temple dwellers and retain control of the idol” according to the developers.
