Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Gets Tournament, Art Show, And Chess Set

 
Street Fighter’s 25th anniversary celebration continues with some pretty awesome news. Announced today, the celebration will include a tournament, an art exhibition, and even a new Street Fighter themed chess set. 
 
A global tournament will be held in Austin, TX July 28-29. Registration is now open and free, but a $20 (refundable) fee is required to reserve a spot. The tournament will end in a grand finals event in San Francisco, CA on December 8th, 2012. games featured in the tournament will include Street Fighter X Tekken, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike Online Edition, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.
 
There will also be a Street Fighter 25th Anniversary art exhibition. In a partnership with iam8bit, the exhibition will honor different aspects of the Street Fighter culture. The grand opening will be in Los Angeles, CA on August 3rd, 2012 from 7pm – 11pm. More details can be found here.
 
Rounding out the festivities is a new Street Fighter themed chess set. There will be 5,000 individually number sets and will contain silver and pewter resin pieces stored in protective custom slots inside the wood case. Also included is a certificate of authenticity. The entire set retails for $299.95 and will be available in August 2012.
