Though it doesn’t show intent to manufacture, patents are a good way to see what companies are brainstorming for their customer base. Sony recently submitted this patent for a PS3 (move/dualshock) device that would appear to be a steering rig. 
 
It seems the patent (shown above) would be perfect for racing simulators or some flying-sims. It would have been nice to have one of these when I tried ‘Warhawk” out for the first time on PS1. Though 1995 was a simpler time.
