In February, Sony released the 4.10 firmware update for PS3 and after that reports came flooding in that the Sony brand PS3 Wireless headsets were not working properly. Sony is prepared to address these issues and issued a statement for players.
Anand Agarwal, Product Marketing Manager of hardware, took to the Playstation blog to make the announcement to gamers. Agarwal promisees that the issues with the headset (shown on the right) will be fixed with a future firmware update. Agarwal had this to say on the Playstation.blog:
With the 4.10 update, we added a feature that enabled you to hear your own voice through the headset when playing multiplayer modes. This type of audio feedback, technically known as “sidetone,†was among the features requested by some of you (and some of the press) for multiplayer gameplay. Unfortunately the feature has had unintended effects in certain games, and, based on some of the feedback we’ve heard from the community, a solution to improve the performance is under development.
Sony stopped short of supplying a timeline for the update, or if any features will have to be removed or altered to make it work. A fix is on the way though, we will keep you updated.
