Reports point to PS4 being announced this February
February 1st 2013 By John Stewart contact email , twitter
The moment that Sony released a full-on blitz marketing campaign for a secretive event taking place on February 20, 2024 most gamers immediately thought of the upcoming Playstation 4 (codenamed Orbis).
According to inside-reports from The Wall Street Journal that is exactly what it is going to take place. The secretive event, Sony says in its marketing, will allow players to “see the future” and entices players to sign up to me notified via email “to be the first” to know about the news. Although Sony has hyped up smaller, less important marketing schemes in the past, even once prepping fans for weeks with small tid-bits of trailers just to show them a commercial at the end of it all, nothing was done to this scale. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, the Playstation Blog and personal emails tied to player’s PS3 user-accounts were all simultaneously triggered at the same time just for the February 20th announcement.
According to Daisuke Wakabayashi at the WSJ Sony will release the next Playstation, “later this year”. Although unconfirmed reports and miscellaneous leaks have pointed to such a release window, nothing is for certain at this time. What is expected is that Sony will release a new, more powerful and more socially-connected gaming platform.
