Sony has sent out an announcement that there will be a sixteen-hour long “maintenance window” in place on the PSN network from 10am EDT – 2am EDT. Though online play shouldn’t be affected.
The few things that ARE going to be down are the Playstation Store and Playstation Home. So if you wanted to buy anything to play tomorrow, you should do it before 10am EDT. Here is the official word from Sony:
…we will be performing maintenance on the network on Thursday, May 24th, starting at approximately 8:00 am PDT / 10:00 am EDT and concluding around 11:00pm PDT / 2:00am EDT.
During this maintenance period, you may receive a message that states “PlayStation Network is undergoing maintenance†when attempting to access the PlayStation Store or PlayStation Home. Online play will not be affected and you will be able to enjoy apps such as Netflix and Amazon Instant Video during this maintenance as well, provided that you have signed into the network within 5 days prior to the start of the maintenance period.

It’s because EA is retarded and has the online pass validations linked to the PS Store. So when the Store is down you can’t get pass that screen due to it not being able to confirm that you purchased the pass. lame.
Yeah right its not letting me on anything related to the PSN on battlefield 3. What was it you were saying about not affecting game play? Hope we can resolve this problem. Sincerely, Angered customer.
I don’t go online with my PS3 often, but whenever I do it seems like the PSN is down for maintenance. Which is probably why I don’t go online with my PS3 often, now that I think about it. Well that and the slow-as-molasses download speeds for games/demos/updates and what have you.
