Nintendo had a few surprising announcements during tonights ‘Nintendo Direct’ livestream session. The company talked about an easier to manage update and patch system for developers and a new 3DS Super Mario 2.
Satoru Iwata talked about the new firmware update that is inbound for the Nintendo handheld. The update will make it easier to deliver updates and patches to games. The first game to use the updated patch system will be Mario Kart 7. This update will rollout on April 25, 2012.
As for the Super Mario 2 announcement, there were a few images shown briefly as they demoed the game (shown on the right). Not too much is known except that it is slated to hit Japan and will be coming to Nintendo 3DS. We will update you when Nintendo releases a press-statement with all the details.
