A leaked slideshow of images shows a new tablet about to be offered from Sony. The $499 Android powered tablet could be Sony’s answer to the Microsoft Surface.
Starting with a kickstand/keyboard cover, the new tablet has a few similarities to the Microsoft Surface, which is planned to release this October alongside Windows 8. If the reports are accurate, the new tablet will be Sony’s lightest yet, with a Tegra 3 quad-core processor. That processor is currently running the Google Nexus 7. The device is rumored to run the current Android 4.0 OS and will have 3G capabilities.
The images come from Mobiflip, which leaked the images online and was later found by website theVerge. Other specs on the site include Bluetooth, an 8MP rear-camera and 1mp front camera. The device comes in at 9.4 inches and features the ‘TruBlack’ display’.
The tablet is stated to come in a variety of internal-storage sizes; 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB. The Xperia PLAY brand also features the Sony Playstation Network store, allowing users to access a version of the PSN on their mobile devices. This incorporated onto a tablet would be an added benefit for those that also have a PS3 or PS Vita. Sony has not commented on the findings, you can check out the leaked gallery below.
