After reaching its initial Kickstarter goal in April, 2012, not too much has been seen of the upcoming title ‘Wasteland 2′. Now the developers are ready to begin the slow and agonizing process of pealing back the opaque slipcover and showing their work to the world.
The first image was released as an update on the game’s progress. The image was contained in a post from Brian Fargo, who talks about the current stage the development is in:There will be no lack of originality and deep game play in Wasteland 2. The team has risen to the challenge of making a rich world that will capture a post apocalyptic atmosphere and provide a unique experience for each player that dives in.
We are nearly complete with our backer web site which will consolidate our backer database with Kickstarter and PayPal and eventually allow backers to upgrade their tiers or more easily change such things as shipping information. A soft launch is imminent and then we will roll it out for all.The game is being run on the Unity Engine and although the development team was uneasy at releasing the screen so early in development, they finally gave in to the demands of the people stating, “Releasing a screen shot this early in the process is a new concept for me as we typically want to hone in every element before we show it. But based on the requests and our desire for fan input, we are doing so to solicit feedback on the basic look”.
Wasteland 2 is scheduled to launch on PC, Mac and Linux around October, 2013.
