In what seems to be an ongoing battle between Xbox Live and the Indie Game developers that develop content for it, a small victory has been won for the little guys.
Microsoft has altered some of its restrictions for Indie Games to make it to the big show, creating a new set of guidelines that makes it easier for smaller games to be accepted. These new guidelines are primarily focused on price and size.
Games were restricted to a soul-crushing 150MB size restriction; a restriction that now has developers left with some breathing room by upping it to 500mb. A win for the gaming developing community, now a win for you with pricing structure. Any game over 50mb had a $3 or $5 price-tag, now Indie Games can start out at just $1. Those weren’t the only changes however, the actual amount of games an Indie Developer can have on the market jumped from 10 to 20. Meaning games can stay active longer with new content coming in without having to clear the way for new ones.
