Famed film, television and video-game music composer Normand Corbeil passed away on January 25, 2013. The Emmy award winning composer had previously worked on the hit title ‘Heavy Rain’.
Normand Corbeil won numerous awards in almost every facet of the entertainment industry. Winning two Emmys and a long-list of equally impressive awards, the composer died at the age of 56. Corbeil was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August of last year. The next video game title that Corbeil was working on was the Quantic Dream follow up to Heavy Rain named ‘Beyond: Two Souls’.
It be impossible not to remember Heavy Rain without reflecting on the amazing musical score that the game contained. Simply one of the greatest examples of how music can enrich a video game experience.
A quote from David Cage graces the IMDB resume of the late composer stating, “The first notes raise the hairs on the back of my neck; Ethan’s theme fills the studio, swelling with emotion from the breath of the brass and the stroking of the strings. Ethan is born for the third time, first in the writing, secondly in the image and now in the music. This theme will give colour to Ethan’s story.â€
A truly gifted composer and one of the best in the industry.
